In partnership with

Scottish Care is the voice of the independent social care sector in Scotland, representing more than 900 services across residential care, nursing care, day care, care at home and housing support. It helps providers strengthen services and influence policy. We are running this afternoon together because recruitment sits underneath all of it, and every provider in Scotland feels it.

What the day looks like

Every care organisation in Scotland is fighting the same battle. Vacancies staying open longer than anyone would like. PVG and SSSC checks stretching timelines you cannot control. Managers who are already flat out and now have a recruitment process to run as well. And a growing pile of applications that were clearly written by a chatbot.

This is a session to share best practice on tackling these issues.

How it works

You will sit in small groups and work through the topics below, moving between tables so you are not stuck with the same four people all afternoon. Every table is chaired, so the conversation keeps moving and nobody dominates it. Bring the problem you have not solved yet.

What we will be talking about

AI in care recruitment, honestly

What AI is genuinely good for in a care hiring process, what it cannot do safely, and what to make of the applications landing in your inbox that a chatbot wrote. Including the questions to ask before you let any tool near a shortlist.

The recruitment crisis, and what is working

Where care providers are finding people right now. What is moving the needle on applications, drop-off and retention, and what has quietly stopped working. Real numbers from real organisations, not theory.

Hiring managers

Your biggest untapped asset and often your biggest bottleneck. How others have got service and registered managers genuinely involved in hiring without adding to their workload.

Over to the room

An open table with no set subject. Whatever is keeping you up at night goes here. Chances are someone else has already had a go at it.

Who it is for

People who own recruitment inside a care organisation in Scotland. Heads of HR, People and Workforce, resourcing and recruitment managers, recruitment and onboarding coordinators, and operations leads with hiring responsibility.

Residential care, care at home, supported living, housing with care and hospices are all welcome.
