They do, particularly when someone is already deciding between two offers. We asked our team what helps when they're feeling low or anxious. Nobody said "push through it". Instead we got wild, windy seaside walks, kitchen discos, a curlew calling across the reed beds, strong cups of tea and a cosy horror game! This year's World Mental Health Day theme is "Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change". So we've let our team's voices do the talking in the graphic below. The common thread? Most of it's simple. Fresh air, music, a break from screens and a moment that's just yours. The other thing that helps is being asked in the first place. If a colleague seems a bit quieter than usual, check in and really listen. It doesn't need to be the perfect thing to say, just say something. Not feeling like yourself? 📉 In 2021, 8.1% of hires in our client data came through an agency. Today it's 2.3%. That's a 5.8 percentage point fall in five years, and it hasn't happened in isolation. 📈 Over exactly the same period, internal hires climbed from 12.8% to 21.4%. Employers are promoting more and outsourcing less. Some of that is budget. But a lot of it is capability. When your own attraction, screening and talent pooling work properly, the agency invoice becomes a choice rather than a default. 🤔 The interesting question isn't whether agency spend is falling. It's whether the money is being reinvested in the internal capability that replaced it, or quietly absorbed elsewhere.
